2 broken ribs and 1 super mixer

motorcycle accident

That was a shock when we received a message that Makar and Krishna had had an accident.
"Fortunately" it was "limited" to 2 broken ribs at Makar and some bruises at Krishna.
Makar, the chairman of the school board and construction coordinator, drove his motorcycle with Krishna on the back from the construction site to his house about 1 km away.
They collapsed at the crossing of the river, the engine got stuck in the water 2 meters lower. The men have been laughing on the ground because they had ridden this together over 100 times and knew every hole and bump.

Now hope for a speedy recovery.

super mixer

A lot of concrete has to be mixed and in the traditional way that is a lot of work; that's why Makar went to Kathmandu last week to buy a concrete mixer. And what kind of one: a super mixer powered by a petrol engine.
It is an investment of € 1000, but that will certainly be recouped with savings in labor and also gives a better quality.

The films clearly show the difference in the labor required for mixing a few wheelbarrows of concrete.

A power generator was also taken along with the same transport, which was donated by a church in Kathmandu. The generator secures the power supply so that the concrete vibrating needle, which is used during concrete pouring, to deaerate and settle the concrete, can be used at all times.

Construction is progressing well

Yesterday, November 15, was the memorable moment that the foundation work was finished.
A great deal of work has been done, foundation plates have been made and the steelwork for the piles attached. Foundation walls stacked / masonry with the concrete cross-bond beams on top.

In the past 3 weeks we already delivered 7 truckloads of sand and grit. Now from a different location, closer, only 25 kilometers but still 5 hours away for the trucks due to the difficult road.

Next week the bulldozer will be nearby and will be used to level the site.

Much has been achieved in 6 weeks with the permanent construction team of 7 people, who work 7 days a week on the project, and the local support with which 20 people worked on the construction site at peak times.

Hopefully the weather will continue to cooperate for a while. Extra blankets have already been purchased for the builders due to the cold nights.
